Description

They Don't Sleep is a zombie survival life sim with roguelite elements. The player character must battle zombies, cook food, manage her stress, take care of her baby, and gather supplies from town while trying to escape to safety.

History

They Don't Sleep began as a hunger for short, challenging, easy-to-pick-up games from the 16-bit era. As a solo developer with a family, I was also interested in crafting a game with a human dimension.

They Don't Sleep was born from combining those concepts: "What if you had to take care of your child while surviving the zombie apocalypse?"

Armed with the idea of a life simulator being combined with hardcore retro game elements, I set out to create a bite-sized experience players could jump into and enjoy right away.

Features

Battle endless waves of zombies trying to break through your fence into your home.
Meet seven different needs, such as hunger, stress, and your baby's comfort, all while fighting zombies.
Gather supplies in town. Leave the safety of your home behind to collect food, ammunition, and parts to repair your truck.
Level up and try again. Upgrade seven different skills over time, and when you fail, start over and try again with your enhanced abilities.
Fight to escape by repairing your broken truck. Collect the tools and parts you need from town to get away from the ravening horde.
Hand-crafted, all-original pixel art and music meets a hardcore retro vibe.
